Care in English

Your visit can be in English

If a life is at risk, call 911 first

We provide home medical care; we are not an emergency service. We don't carry an ambulance or resuscitation equipment. In those cases call 911 first, which arrives with what's needed.

911 is Ecuador's emergency number (ECU 911) and works from any phone.

Urgent care or emergency?

Emergency

Is a life in danger?
Yes, right now.
How much time do I have?
Minutes. Every minute counts.
What should I do?
Call 911.

Urgent care

Is a life in danger?
Not immediately.
How much time do I have?
Hours. A doctor is needed soon.
What should I do?
Message us: we'll assess you at home.
See the triage scale

Manchester triage

  • Red: immediate care
  • Orange: very urgent, within 10 min
  • Yellow: urgent, within 60 min
  • Green: standard, within 120 min

Blue (non-urgent, within 240 min): a regular appointment can be booked. The minutes are the maximum wait to be seen in an emergency room under the Manchester scale.

Rule of thumb: If the person isn't breathing well, doesn't respond, turns blue, has crushing chest pain, is having a seizure or is bleeding heavily → 911. Most other cases can be assessed at home.

Call 911 if there is:

  • Chest pain or a suspected heart attack
  • Severe difficulty breathing
  • Stroke signs: facial droop, arm weakness or slurred speech
  • A traffic accident or a hard blow to the head
  • Loss of consciousness or seizures
  • Bleeding that won't stop

Going to a clinic

  • Moving someone who is sick or elderly

  • More trips after the consultation

CrabCare at your home

  • We head out as soon as you confirm and come to your door

Why see a general practitioner if you may be referred to a specialist anyway? Dr. Jefferson Astudillo explains (in Spanish, with English subtitles).
Read the transcript

“But if they end up sending you to a specialist anyway, why call a general practitioner to your home? It's actually complementary work. We look at the patient as a whole and focus on both symptoms and signs for a timely diagnosis and treatment. We refer to a specialist when the diagnosis becomes much more complex.”

Do you see patients at night or on holidays?

Yes. General medical consultations and urgent care run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. There's no time when you can't message us. Consultations with specialists are scheduled separately, based on each one's availability.

How long does it take you to arrive?

The doctor heads out as soon as we confirm the visit. The exact time depends on the neighborhood and on traffic at that moment, so we confirm it when we coordinate, so you know what to expect.

Do I need to book in advance?

No. For urgent care we come right away. For scheduled consultations we arrange the time that works best for you.

What payment methods do you accept?

All of them: cash, bank transfer, debit card and credit card. We confirm the price before the visit, with no surprises at the end.

Which areas of Guayaquil do you cover?

We cover all of Guayaquil, both the urban area and outlying neighborhoods. If you're unsure about your address, message us and we'll confirm right away.

What if I need to be hospitalized?

We stabilize the patient at home and coordinate the transfer to the appropriate hospital, staying with you throughout the process.

Do you see children?

Yes. We offer pediatric care at home, so children can be examined in their own surroundings.

What does the consultation price include?

The medical assessment, the diagnosis, any treatment given during the visit and written instructions. Whatever you need to continue the treatment at home isn't included in the price.

Message us and we'll arrange the visit

We see patients day and night, holidays included.
